I started my love for the outdoors (mountains) at the age of eleven with my first 4000 footer Mt Layfayette. When I returned home I announced hey mom and dad I know what I want to do. Five years later and a bunch of trips to North Conway and the White mountains my curiosity grew towards the wonderful granite cliffs. I first started playing on the rocks at a little crag in MA called Denrock. I didn’t think mom would like it so my partner and I did a lot of biking. That could only last so long w/ the passion growing, once out it was the EMS climbing school (1983) for me. Since those early experiences my passion continued to grow and the travel bug took hold to climb rocks, ice and mountains around the states and abroad. I moved to North Conway in 1990 to climb.

Firmly rooted in a climbing town my skills grew and I traveled to historical climbing mecca’s like the Gunks, The New, and Seneca. I wanted to play all the games climber’s play like aid climbing aka big wall climbing. It was off to Yosemite to climb the mega classic nose route. Being a member of the North Conway climbing community some of my friends and climbing partners were guides. It was a natural progression w/ my love of climbing to start teaching. I started my guiding career in 1994.

16 Years of guiding my passion is still new tempered with mature experience and many adventures. Now, my adventures have brought me to the desert south west, Joshua-tree, and Red rocks both for the pleasure of my clients and myself. Mountain trips have included the Canadian Rockies, The Tetons, and The Cordillerra of Peru and Boliva in South America.

I am a member of the American Mountain Guides Association and a Certified Rock Guide Level 1. I am also a member of the mountain rescue community with the Mountain Rescue Service A team member. I am a wilderness first responder and hold a Level 2 avalanche certification from the American Avalanche Institute.

I live in Brownfield, Maine w/ my wife Carolyn and 2 daughters Faye and Ellen the dog Daisy and our rabbit Miss Mary Gray. Some other pursuits I enjoy are trail running, road and mountain biking and being a dad. Thanks for taking the time to check out my profile. I hope to see you at the IMCS Climbing School, you are making the right choice….thank you.
